Other Leaders

In addition to Pastor Linton Thomas, these people provide leadership to First UB Church of the Bronx.

Minister Smith
Chairman of the Board

I serve as the Chairman of the Board, Assistant Pastor to Reverend Linton Thomas, and a Lay Minister. It is a pleasure for me to work in the ministry of the Lord; I enjoy helping men and women develop and grow in love of God.

Sally Staff
Church Secretary

I thank God for the opportunity to be serving as the Church Secretary, the Senior Choir Director, a Member of the Board, a Sunday School Teacher and a Youth Advisor. My desire is to do the Will of God and not the will of man. I believe that God requires a spirit of excellence from us. Therefore, whatever we do for Him must be done with excellence.

Hyacinth Sang
Lay Leader

I have been a devoted member of the First United Brethren Church of the Bronx since 1993. I currently serve as the Lay Leader, a Deaconess, and a member of the Board. After a life-changing, spiritual affirming incident some years ago, I dedicated my life to helping others in their journey to a Christ-directed life. My personal creed is, “My living will not be in vain, I will not die, but live to declare the works of the Lord.”

Sharon Nottage
Sunday School Superintendent

Being the Sunday School Superintendent has allowed me to be a part of training future leaders in the church of God. I am forever grateful to God for placing me in this strategic position. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to see “my children” grow to love the Lord. I believe in giving my all to God, because only what is done for Christ will last.

Loletta Dawkins
Women's President

In 2006, I became a member of the First Church of the United Brethren in Christ; I later became a member of the church choir. In 2008, I was elected President of the Women’s Ministry and a member of the Church Board. I love this ministry; I am working earnestly to become an evangelist, that I can inspire both men and women to be soldiers for the kingdom of God.

William Nottage
Men's President

I thank God for the ability to be the Men’s President. I have been serving God for a long time, and I thank Him that because of His grace and mercy I am still here and working in His kingdom. As men, we aim to live up to God’s expectations as the head of the household and leaders for our children.

Shana Dawes
President of Youth Fellowship “Youth in Action”

I currently serve on the church board as well as in the Sunday school ministry. I take great pride and pleasure in serving the young people and strongly believe in young people standing up for Christ and at the same time having fun. For this reason our theme for this year’s Youth in Action is “Stand Up and Be Counted for Jesus.”

Paulette Larmond
Chief Financial Chairperson

It has been my pleasure to serve in this United Brethren Church and to see how the congregation has grown over the years. I am currently the Financial Chairperson; this has been a time of personal development and growth. Over the life of this church, I’ve been privileged to serve in the following positions: Assistant Secretary Youth Department, Secretary Youth Department, Treasurer Youth Department, Vice President Youth Department, President Youth Department, Church Financial Secretary, Church Assistant Treasurer, and Church Treasurer. I look forward to continued service in the years ahead.

Oswald and Lurline Larmond
Founding Members

Oswald and Lurline Larmond are two of the founding members of this church. Over the years they have labored in the United Brethren organization serving in many positions. They worked in the Jamaican Conference for many years. Lurline Larmond was one of the few female pastors in the 1970s. Oswald and Lurline have been married for over 50 years and credit it all to God’s grace. Their passion for the Lord leads them to continue laboring in this church. They encourage and strengthen many of us. I’m sure they will continue to labor to the very end.
